Crazy school!
I'll never forget my first day at school. I arrived late and I was scared I would get into trouble.
First I saw the teacher. She asked my name. - my name is jules. She seemed surprisesd but then she smiled. She was nice. I turned towards the class. I thought I must be seeing things.
- Miss ? - Yes, Jules. - I think i'm in the wrong class - Why would you say that ? - There are only animals here !
- Go and sit down next to Luigi There was one place free, next to an italian wild piglet. - I can't sit next to him - Why not, Jules ? - Because pigs are dirty and they don't smell good. The animals did not look impressed. The teacher was very embarrassed. - Very well, we will put a desk at the back of the classroom, to give you time to get used to your new classmates. - Miss, i'd like to change schools - We'll see about that later, Jules. Just be a little patient, please.
The teacher decided that everyone would introduce themselves, to get to know each other better. Some of the students came from far away. Joey, the kangaroo, was born in Australia. For the first months of his life he didn't leave his mother's pouch. Ping the panda had just arrived from China. In the moutains of Tibet he must have seen a Yeti. In a very small voice, I murmured : - I was born in Paris, not far from the school. Everyone laughed and I went all red. To get to school I hadn't taken a long trip like Nanook the wold cub, who came from Alaska, or Bokary, the little elephant, who was born in the heart of the African savannah. Luckily the bell rang. It was time for morning break. Phew !
