The Brave Little Tailor by The Brothers Grimm, Patrick Austin and Imodraj Flowerpot Children's press
This is the exciting story of a tailor named Valiant. The life of a tailor is not very exciting. It is busy. Valiant worked as a tailor in a great castle. He tailored the clothing of those who lived and worked there. This kept him very busy. He had very little time for breaks. At least, not yet...
During a short break in a long day, Valiant had a rare moment of excitement and triumph. As he sat eating his lunch, he was frustrated by a swarm of bothersome flies. Valiant set down the co okie he had planned to eat for his dessert, and as all of the flies gathered on it, he smashed the co okie with a mallet, crushing all seven of the flies at once.
Valiant was so excited, he burst into the street and ran through town singing: “Seven in one blow! Seven in one blow! I crushed them all, you all should know!” Valiant did not know that the townspeople had been talking all week about giants terrorizing towns throughout the land. As Valiant sang his song, the townspeople assumed he meant that he had crushed seven giants. “Bring him to the King!” cried the townspeople.
