Benjamin Franklin was one of the most famous Americans of his time. He was famous for being a writer, a scientist, an inventor, and a statesman. Do you know what he invented?


Benjamin Franklin was born January 7th, 1706. He grew up in Boston. He was one of 17 children in his family.
When Benjamin Franklin was eight years old he began school. His favorite subjects were reading and writing. He liked to write poetry.
Benjamin Franklin liked to invent things. His first invention was a set of paddles to help him swim faster. He put one on each hand and swam in the lake on weekends.
When he was 12 years old Benjamin Franklin left school and began working in a print shop with his brother. He printed newspapers. He also secretly wrote articles and put them in the newspaper.
Benjamin Franklin moved to Philadelphia in 1723. He was 17 years old. He began working in a print shop in Philadelphia. When he was 22 years old he started his own print shop and began printing the Philadelphia Newspaper.
Benjamin Franklin was married in 1730. His wife was named Deborah. They had three children. They were happy.
