A mother brings her daughter to an unknown destination. She is taciturn and seems preoccupied. But closer to the destination (Grandma's house, who recently passed away), the mother walks in her childhood steps and starts to loosen up and free herself. Together, they'll untie the pain of losing a close one, and re-tie the strong link uniting a parent and their child.
With soft and bright drawings, Da Wu takes our hand, like the mother and child, and brings us on the difficult path of grief. There's the sadness of losing someone, but also the happiness of reliving past joys and sharing them with your child. In the end, parents were all children, and children one day might become parents.
