Little Bud Written by Ginou Jussel and illustrated by Perrine Boyer Published by Lirabelle
Opposite my house there is a garden. A tree grows there.
“When shall I grow buds?” it wonders.
There is a branch on the tree. And now it bears a bud. “When shall I grow into a flower?” it wonders.
There is a flower on the branch. Look carefully and you’ll see a hidden seed. “When shall I grow into a fruit?” it wonders.
There is a fruit on the tree, a well-ripened fruit waiting for the child to reach for it. “When shall I be picked?” it wonders.
A child approaches and takes the fruit.
“Sweet and juicy fruit, I shall eat you!”
There was a fruit on the tree. Twenty milk teeth have munched it.
A year has passed.
Spring has come again. Another fruit has ripened.
Another year and another candle.
And so, from bud to flower, from flower to fruit, from one spring to the next, little gourmets mature and grow.
